If you are looking at this listing it’s because you know that Leme is the quiet and cozy extension of Copacabana. No wonder it’s the choice for many expats and tourists from all over the world. Its smallness makes you feel that you are in a village with a big metropolis nearby. The heavy traffic of Atlantica Avenue takes a turn on Princesa Isabel Avenue towards the Copacabana’s access tunnels sparring the neighborhood of the urban stress. Leme is a laid back neighborhood with traditional bars and restaurants like the legendary Mario’s, the traditional seafood eatery Shirley, the trendy Boteco Belmonte, kiosks along the beach promenade many with live music as well as fine retail stores. The main supermarket, Zona Sul features a restaurant and pizzeria with ocean view and carries many imported products that cater to its international costumers. It is certainly a miniature Copacabana.

The studio apartment, situated at about 200 yards from the beach, is part of a building occupied mostly by families with 24 hour doormen. It was totally renovated on March 2023 so everything is new. Both the building and the apartment are wheel chair accessible. It faces the back, so it’s very quiet with partial view of the edge of a forest. It has air conditioning but most likely you won’t need it. For most part of the year you’ll find yourself using the ceiling fan. In the summertime it gets partly direct sunlight from roughly 1:00 to 4:00 PM. The bed has a Orthobon quality mattress and it is a standard full size. Pillows and sheets are of good quality. It also has good towels. There is a single size futon and an American made AeroBed single size air mattress, either one can be used for a third guest. There is a small office space with a floating glass desk and a 4K computer monitor. There is a stereo bluetooth Bose speaker that you can pair with your tablet, laptop or smartphone and listen to your favorite music. There is one American type power outlet on the wall and plug adapters available so you can plug in your imported gadgets. The Wi-Fi is a high-speed fiber optics Claro internet connection. The television set is a led full hd 40” smart tv which you can connect to your streaming service account and watch your favorite shows. No cable tv but antena reception with basic channels like TV Globo, Band, SBT, Record News etc. There is a marble round bistro table and four chairs with cushions. The kitchen is furnished with refrigerator, microwave oven, American made appliances and utensils like toaster, toaster oven, plates, high quality pots and pans and everything you need. The building is equipped with a water filter and there is a filter in the apartment therefore your water is double filtered and you won’t need to buy bottled water. The shower has a good water pressure which is heated by a gas heater. Hot water is also available in the bathroom and kitchen sinks. There is a washing machine but no dryer. You can use the two sets of standing clotheslines to air dry them, which takes a few hours. Next door to the building there is a wash and dry Laundromat open 24 hours that accepts credit card.

The apartment is suitable for two people and a maximum of two adults and a child. I prefer medium to long term booking. Ideal for professionals coming to Brazil on a business trip or a seminar and couples on vacation.

Buses, taxis, and ride-hailing cars are the main ways to get around in Leme. You can also rent a bicycle or an electric scooter, which are available along the entire waterfront.
